Your Asrtroturf Boots From 2004 Couldn't Be More Perfect
In recent years, we've seen just about everything in the world of high-end footwear. To be honest, it mostly comes from Balenciaga, but most luxury companies have let their creative juices flow at least once. Gucci's Ultrapace R Sneakers deviate from the standard despite the absence of suspended heels or five-toe toe boxes.
But we're ready for it. The upper of the Gucci Ultrapace R is made of a neon green stretch knit fabric with adhesive plastic overlays. These overlays not only enhance the shoe's slim shape, but they also give the sock top a classic, sporty vibe. We're quite sure Alessandro Michele wasn't inspired by the early-2000s football boots, but there's no doubting the resemblance.
With a translucent sole unit and a Double-G emblem on the heel tab, the Gucci Ultrapace R is unmistakably a premium shoe rather than a throwback to the early 2000s. The sock upper stretches past the ankle to give the shoe a mid-top silhouette, and the interlocking-G logo adds the final touch to this high-end mystery.
