Jeremy Scott Is Getting A Run For His Money From Mizuno
It seemed like we'd woken up in the early 2000s when Jeremy Scott and adidas announced the reintroduction of the Forum Wings 1.0 "Money." Shoes suddenly sprouted wings, and money was strewn everywhere. Mizuno is now gearing up to give Scott a run for his money with its own '90s-inspired partnership.
Mizuno formed its own Avengers squad in the shape of Kazoku in 2018. Footpatrol and Wood Wood are among the like-minded, sneaker-obsessed companies and merchants that make up the creative collaborative. Mita Sneakers, one of the team's founding members and a regular Mizuno partner, is well-known for its contributions to the sneaker game.
24 Karats, a cult Japanese streetwear shop, joins the duo for their latest collaboration silhouette, a three-way design that uses the Mizuno Contender as its canvas. The Contender is the trio's second collaboration, after the release of the 24 Karats x Mita Sneakers x Mizuno Wave Rider 1 in 2019.
The Contender, like the Wave Rider 1, is unmistakably bold. The sneaker's "beef and broccoli" themed suede and leather overlays stand out at first sight, but the $100 bill pattern that covers the underlays and tongue draws your attention.
The 24 Karats x mita shoes x Mizuno Contender is a bold design, similar to Jeremy Scott's controversial Wings. It's fantastic to see shoe manufacturers taking chances and experimenting, regardless of how consumers react to pairs like these.
